Great book!

I bought this for my 15 year old step daughter who loves to read. She couldn't put the book down and really liked it. I had read the series when I was a girl and remembered it was good. I would recommend the series for teen readers. Since to of the books are combined in this one publication, it is large and a bit heavy. If you're travelling, you may want to purchase individual books if weight and size are a problem (I wouldn't want to carry this around in my purse... too big and heavy).

So far a real good book....

I saw the movie flowers in the attic when I was a kid.... and let me tell you I am in my thirties and I still remember it. So like 20 years has gone by since i have seen the movie and I am in Half Price Books and I see this girl rummaging through V.C Andrews novels. I asked her what does V.C Andrews write and are her books any good? She tells me about the Flowers in the attic book and how there is like a whole series of them. And I freaked out. I told her how i had loved the movie as a kid. Well I bought the book and have been hooked every since. Now i haven't finished the whole book but when i put it down to deal with my every day life ( kids, laundry, cooking) the book is in the back of my mind. The two book comb Flowers in the attic and Petals in the Wind seem to flow there has been no gaps between the two stories that leave me wondering. So i would suggest if you plan on reading both books.... by this book combo. I think it was like $6.00 at half price books:) And dont be intimidated by the size it is a real easy read.

Good books, in a twisted way

I remember being very intrigued with the Flowers in the Attic movie that came out in the late 80s, and wanted to read the book someday. Well, someday came and I did. Then I found out there was a series! I bought the entire series and read it over the course of a year. Books 3 and 4 were a snooze-fest, but overall, it's an ok fiction read (with some questionable adult themes).

A book that also asks questions

Around the same time that Professor Nasr began publishing works dealing with so called 'Islamic science' this book came out. Filled with illistations it goes through the history of science and technology as they were practiced in the middle east up until the 19th century. It also looks at the contributions made by Muslim/Middle Easter scientists to science in general more interesingly it also asks questions as to why science declined in the 'Muslim world' and compares it with the rise of science in the West.

An exellent book that asks more than a few difficult questions some of which are still awaiting answers.

A rich and rewarding play - to be read and performed

Polly Teale's play version of Bronte's classic, "Jane Eyre" is remarkable not only for its true connection to the book, but even more for its ability to create a world in which the Victorian characters can live, without ostracising a modern audience. I am an acting student from Queensland whose university put on this play, and after watching it five times (voluntarily!)I can say that it never fails to rouse all the emotions. There are some beautiful scenes in this play, particularly at the end of each play, which still cause me to hold my breath. The characters of Bertha and Jane complement each other extraordinarily well, and Polly manages to convey both the passion and the control which rule most of the character's lives. I strongly recommend this play, though I believe its greatest strength lies in the actual performance of the text.

more than a love story

Jane Eyre is more than a love story; it demonstrates a noble way of life. Jane herself is an amazing character because she has an independence that allows her to move on and take responsibility for her own happiness no matter what happens to her. I first read this as a teenager and still think of Jane as the ultimate role model.

I really enjoyed this script. I would definitely recommend it to everyone. I would also recommend that you go see the play if possible!
