If you want to be an ethical practictioner, then get the more recent edition!

If you are planning on being a current, practicing BCBA, then DO NOT GET THIS EDITION. It is not up-to-date with the latest code. The ethical code was revamped in 2016, so you should get the current edition, the 3rd edition.

Obviously, if you don't care about the changes in the code, then this book is fine. These authors do a great job getting the message across in an easy to understand way. But I highly recommend the new edition if you are practicing in the field.

Essential reading for future BCBAs!

If you plan to work toward becoming a BCBA, you MUST get this book! It is essential that all BCBAs know and understand their ethical responsibilities and how to handle some of the ethical challenges that can come about in the course of practice. A bit thick, terminology-wise, but it is geared toward graduate-level students so that is to be expected.

very good and helpful book

As a masters student in Behavior Analysis, this book is very helpful, and required. It gave many scenarios that were easy to follow and helped clarify some confusion. Definitely worth getting, especially if you are considering sitting for the BACB exam, as there are ethics questions on that test.

A must read for all young people to start off right financially (and yes, quite a few of us old ones should read it too!)

The Future Millionaire's Guidebook is chock full of extensive financial information that I wished I had known when I first got out of college (even with a finance degree which was useless for real life finances!). The authors have managed to clearly describe financial topics in a fun and understandable way to both young and old. In one section stocks are described as "that guy or gal, your mother warned you about...fast, loose and unpredictable" and bonds are described "as the guy or gal your parents hope you end up with."

The book is very comprehensive dealing with every financial topic that one would need to know such as bad and good debt, credit cards, retirement saving, college loans, real estate, investing, taxes, and estate planning. The book also includes such items that often are not discussed in depth in other forums such as opening bank accounts, auto insurance, how to buy a car, putting aside some money for fun, and planning both short and long term goals. In each chapter there is a brief fun quiz. If you just bought the book and did each quiz, you would quickly know which chapters to focus first on. And yes, the answers are in the back but reading the chapter is the way to succeed!

I am a financial planner and I will recommend this book to all of my clients - both young and old. I see it as a great resource to initially read and then to review specific sections as needed. Money matters are not taught in school or by many parents. Money knowledge has been learned by the "seat of our pants" for most people and the results are apparent in low savings rates and high debt rates. This book is truly a guidebook for all who want to succeed financially and to reach their own personal financial goals.

The author and contributors to this book have distilled a whole lot of financial savvy into a guide that's easy to read and digest. I plan to buy copies for my 20 something niece and nephew, and wish I'd had something like it when I was their age. Lots of great songs with good versions of them

Lots of great songs with good versions of them. Some songs like Neon are tough. The format of this book is nice in that it helps with the timing of the singing and chord changes.

Wow, Drew is HOT, HOT, HOT....This story is everything you want in a romance novel. Hot guy, pretty girl, steamy sex, beautiful location, and lots of romance and a sweet love story. Off to read the third book......

Great Read and a Real Page Turner

This is a great read and one that I highly recommend. I read book 1 and 2 in one day. I simply could not put them down.

Trinity Matthews has sworn off men since her recent breakup. She soothes her weary soul by emptying her bank account and leaving for an exotic vacation.

Drew Titan is a self made billionaire who owns a string of exotic resorts. When he shows up at the resort in Spain he literally runs into Trinity with his surf board and saves her from drowning. They embark on a steamy romance, the first impulsive thing she has done in her life. Drew keeps his identity a secret wanting her to care about him and not his money. When she finds out the truth she is furious, feels betrayed once again, and leaves the island immediately.

A month after her return home she is pregnant and alone until Drew tracks her down. He is determined to win her heart and be an everyday father to his child.

Hanging on to Okay Status by a Thread **SPOILER ALERT**

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A SPOILER ALERT IN THE HEADING OF THIS REVIEW. PLEASE DON'T READ IT IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPOILERS!

Sigh. I really, really wanted to love this book. The blurb made it sound so good, and it was just the type of story I was in the mood for. Overall I'd say it was borderline okay; there were parts that were so annoying that I wanted to toss my Kindle against the wall. This is the first book I've read by Ms. Anne, and while it wasn't a very good reading experience, it wasn't bad enough for me to say I'll never read another of her books. As a matter of fact, I do plan on reading the first book in this series, which I already own. I decided to read this book first, because I found the storyline very intriguing and I was in the mood for a story where the hero has to work to convince the heroine to marry him. As far as the technical aspect; writing, editing, plot, and character development, the book is pretty good. There were a few editing issues that I noticed, but nothing which distracted me from the story. As interesting as the plot is; however, I had a lot of issues with the way in which the story unfolded.

One thing I really liked about the book is, apart from a brief prologue, the story gets started right away. When we meet Trinity in chapter one, she is already on vacation--so we didn't have to go through a long drawn out introduction, watching her decide to take the vacation, makes plans, etc. Anyhow, she and Drew meet pretty quickly--you know what happens from the blurb; he knocks her out with his surfboard. LOL! Trinity is out of it for a while, due to the head injury, but when she comes back to her full senses and she and Drew meet, they agree that he will be her tour guide. Drew has decided that he wants to indulge in a vacation fling with Trinity; and plans to seduce her. He can't wait to get her in his bed, and has to force himself to wait. From the way he was thinking, I fully expected him to bed her that very first night...what actually happens is that the story then jumps to a few days later. Trinity now only has two days left of her vacation, and the couple has yet to consummate their "relationship." I was totally flabbergasted! I wanted to know what had happened during their first few days together, and I especially wanted to know why they hadn't had sex as yet. Had something significant occurred between the two, to make Drew decide to slow things down? Did he come to the realization that Trinity was special and was worth waiting for? I have no bloody clue. What I do know is that by this time Trinity is extremely sexually frustrated and seriously considering jumping Drew's bones! LOL

In any event, they finally do sleep together, Trinity finds out Drew is a lying sack of you know what, and the two go their separate ways....actually she leaves him, but whatever. The story then jumps ahead to five months later. Trinity is full blown pregnant and Drew shows up on her doorstep. From this point the story progresses with the two of them continually butting heads, as Drew wants them to get married and be a family and Trinity refusing to even consider the option.
While I respected Trinity's desire to stand on her own two feet and take care of herself, her constant refusal to accept Drew's help with the baby was beyond annoying. I'm so over the so-called "independent" heroine who insists on footing all the expenses for her baby--even though she can't afford it!--when the child's father is loaded and more than willing to help. I mean, it's one thing if the woman has everything covered--under those circumstances feel free to tell Daddy Dearest to take a hike. BUT, when you're struggling financially and HE is the one offering, not YOU asking, then you really need to put your pride aside and start thinking about your child. Maybe you don't want to take the new car he's offering, but a crib---hell ya! That last about a car vs. a crib is just an example BTW, and has nothing to do with this book. LOL Trinity desperately needs help with her baby--she doesn't even have health insurance for crissake! Yet still, she repeatedly and stupidly refuses to allow Drew to help her. At one point she's telling Drew that she needs to save all the money she can so she can afford the baby--he's a billionaire, the father of said baby, and willing to help, so I was rolling my eyes during that conversation. Even Drew was frustrated with the stupid female! LOL

The characters from the previous book, The Tycoon's Revenge (Baby for the Billionaire, Book 1) are very prominently featured in this book. I usually like it when characters from previous books are return in subsequent stories; it's like seeing an old friend. As I said earlier, I haven't read book one yet, but I didn't feel as though I was missing anything by reading this book first. While I liked getting an intro to the protagonists of book one, the parts of the story that involved them seemed almost trite. The whole family loyalty and being there for one another, blah, blah, blah, just seemed overdone. The second time Jasmine (heroine in book one) and Trinity meet, they are discussing a joint business venture. Yes, Trinity was a bit reluctant, but Jasmine was like a force of nature and pretty much swept over all Trinity's objections. Within days of their first meeting they are going to be partners and a building for the business has been purchased. WTF?! Trinity is single and pregnant, with financial problems; she wants nothing to do with Drew--or so she keeps telling herself--yet she's gonna go into business with his cousin's wife?! Isn't that creating more entanglements with Drew, rather than less? I'm sorry, but that aspect of the story seemed dumb. Not to mention that the whole approach to the business came off very much like a hobby for a rich man's wife, rather than a true business venture. But maybe that was just my impression.

I hated the way Jasmine kept referring to Drew and his cousins as "boys." They are men for crying out loud, not boys! If she'd done it once or twice maybe it wouldn't have bothered me so much, but by the time she said it the third time I was beyond annoyed. To be fair, it was probably due, at least in part, that so many other aspects of the story were also annoying me...like the way the characters' attitude towards money. I realize that Drew and his cousins were once poor, and somehow they all ended up billionaires (I think they had a benefactor or some such) but really, do they have to talk about money so much, or have such a cavalier attitude about it. For instance, at one point Jasmine says "these boys have enough money to feed a small country..." Then there is another time when Ryan (hero in book 3) says he too will take a couple of weeks of, and "what are billions for?" Then there is the time when the three cousins go shopping at a local furniture store "that somehow managed to do right by billionaires." And there were a number of instances where they way they talked about their wealth made them seem, I don't know, superficial maybe. Whatever the word to describe them, it wasn't an attractive trait.

The progression of the relationship between Drew and Trinity itself isn't bad. She's having a difficult pregnancy, and is very moody, and poor Drew has to bear the brunt of her bad moods--serves him right! LOL! I love the way he was continually persistent, working to overcome all her objections to the two of them being together. However, I really liked the fact that Trinity wasn't just rolling over and agreeing to everything that Drew wanted. Her resistance to financial help for the baby was irritating, as I've said before, but other than that, I was pretty much on board with the way she made Drew work to win her. Of course there are times when her behavior went beyond stupid! Like the time she's put on bed rest due to high blood pressure, but she sneaks off to go check on her store. Why she couldn't just pick up the phone and CALL the store, I couldn't understand. No, I guess it made much more sense to WALK to the store to see what was going one, and risk her unborn child...within the first 24 hours of being put on bed rest of course! There are a few times during the story when I wish I could've slapped Trinity--she was just that stupid and aggravating.

There's a scene where Drew tells Trinity that he won't pressure her into having sex, "especially because it is forbidden in strict bed rest"--his words, not mine. Of course right after he says this the two end up having sex. Talk about responsible parenting. I guess I was supposed to find it romantic that they couldn't keep their hands off each other. Instead I was disgusted by their selfishness and stupidity. Of course Trinity goes into premature labor and they have to rush her to the hospital. She whines to the doctor, "What did I do wrong?" I'm like what didn't you do wrong? Didn't you sex when you thought you weren't supposed to? Not to mention that her adherence to strict bed rest was a complete joke. Honestly, by the time we got to this point in the story, the evil little person that lives inside of me would have been happy had the baby been a stillborn---her parents were just that stupid; especially Trinity! Of course the doctor reassures them that the sex was not the cause, but that's not the point...the point is, they thought that sex wasn't allowed during the bed rest restriction, but they selfishly went ahead did it anyway, thereby, as far as they knew, putting their unborn child at risk.

Unfortunately, the more I read the less I liked this story. Some parts were pretty good; while others were downright aggravating. I'm rating it 3 stars because it borders on being an okay read...not good, but not terrible. One other thing is the author uses the word "okay" a lot, both in the narrative and the dialogue portions of the story. That in itself is fine. The problem I had with it is the fact that instead of spelling out the word, she uses the all caps abbreviation, "OK." It was very jarring for me to whenever I came across an OK, especially in the dialogue, where sometimes there would be two OK's back to back. Anyhow, that's my take on the book. FYI, this is not a clean romance. There are a few fairly graphic love scenes; but no crude language is use. Happy reading!

Glad I Read This

Curiously whenever I think of Gloria Grahame I see her in terms of a movie seductress. This book manages to flesh out her film, tv, and stage career and I realized that my perception is predictable in that she managed to get cast in that role a whole lot. Author Lentz manages to do a credible job of analyzing her performances with reference to what was going on in her life at the time. Whether it is a valid technique I can't say, but I found it interesting. I didn't know all that much about Grahame except what I learned from the movies and what I've managed to unearth on fan sites on the Internet. That combined knowledge got me to buy and read this book.
Obviously, the basics from which all good scandals come from are there. Lots of husbands, lots of lovers, bedding a stepson which even today would have constituted statutory rape and then later marrying the former stepson and having two kids by him before ending it 12 years later and moving on to other relationships. This is rough stuff even by Hollywood standards. Gloria was definitely a hot number.
This book was loaded with things that on the face of it seemed improbable like a first marriage to Bowery Boy Stanley Clements followed by one to tough guy director Nick Ray (the cuckholded hubby with the curious son). She was a relative through marriage to her co-star Robert Mitchum. Not earth shattering, but def. interesting. She wasn't English, but her mother was. Lots of random stuff that I wasn't aware of.
Grahame weathered a lot of career roadblocks. MGM was clueless as to how to promote her and use her, Howard Hughes basically ignored her when she was under contract to him which seemed to be the shared fate of many actresses under contract to Hughes.
I often wondered about the smoldering femme fatale with the literal stiff upper lip and the odd voice. Great story about how she came by the lip, who was responsible, and how obsession gave her that identifying feature.
Grahame died in 1981 from cancer that she was in denial over. She would have been about 58. If she were here today and spared the indignity of death I wonder how the public would view her and what would her future hold when she was pushing 89. It is hell to think of her as a great grandma. When she managed to break away from type casting the results were promising, but the public seemed to have a problem dealing with her when she made the occasional departure.
I enjoyed this book. It provided a lot of info about someone I knew little about. It introduced me to this lady's career and gave me a sense of who she was. I felt that I was at a disadvantage when reviewing this book because I had nothing else to compare it to. For what it's worth, the only thing that might have deterred me from reading this book was the very hefty price. I purchased this used at a seriously discounted price. I am passing it on to a friend who hopefully is better positioned to write a critical review of this book.

3rd time is also charming

Author Lentz has done interesting and good work on Lee Marvin and Korean War Movies - his 3rd published book on Gloria Grahame is also worthy of your reading time. Good pictures, lots of interesting info on her life and career. This book would be a great acquisition for those interested in Gloria or in Hollywood history

Thoroughly Researched

I loved this actress and reading a so thoroughly researched book on her work and films was a complete joy. The author is obviously as enamored of his subject as I am. One thing though... Mel Ferrer (who directed some of Grahame's scenes in "Macao") was not Jose Ferrer's brother... an odd and amusing error.

DANIEL J. POWER is Professor of Information Systems and Management at the College of Business Administration, University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He holds a doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has developed decision support software and systems, and has examined the impacts of DSS on managers in his research studies. Power has published numerous book chapters and proceedings papers and has authored more than 20 articles for the important journals of his field. He also serves as Editor of DSSResources.com, the knowledge repository about computerized systems that support decision making.

Academic view of DSS

Daniel Power's view of Decision Support Systems is more academic rather than practical. The book is heavy with cittions of literature - many are more than 20 years old! This is a very basic book.

I was hoping for a more useful reference, but what I got was a history of DSS.

About the Author
Lionel Lambourne was head of paintings at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, from 1986-1993. Much More Than A "Coffee Table" Book

This book is a visual and intellectual treat.

Japonisme -- aka Japonism aka Anglo-Japanese -- is the influence of Japanese arts on the West and, in turn, the influence of Western arts (and Western buying tastes!) on Japan.

This cultural exchange was particularly rich after the re-opening of Japan to foreign ships in 1848.

Japonisme was, argues author Lambourne, spearheaded by the French who were particularly taken by Japanese print art of the ukiyo-e tradition. And some of the large names in the "fine" art of painting who were inspired by the Japanese include Bonnard, Mucha, Bearedsley, Klimt, Toulouse-Lautrec, Cassatt, Degas, Renoir, Whistler, Monet and later figures such as Van Gogh.

But here's the thing. "Japonomania" was not simply a "high" aesthetic movement, but an all-encompassing popular trend that swept Europe and North America via ceramics, decorative objects, clothing, theatre, graphic design, furniture, novels, landscape and garden design, and practical objects -- fans, parasols, combs...

As you might imagine, Phaidon has produced a large, lavish, well-illustrated book here. However scholar and author Lambourne provides a fascinating, probing, inclusive text that discusses both the arts and the out-sized individuals who were involved in this movement. The book includes chapters on "The Novel, The Stage, and The Opera," "Visitors to Japan: Dream and Reality," and "Symbolism and the Grotesque."

The best praise I can lavish on this book is that the text informs the illustrations and the illustrations inform the text.

A look behind the sreen of Japan

Wow! It took me six months to complete reading this book. Not because it is boring, but because there is so much information to just mentally digest! But what a fascinating journey. Our cultures are intrigued by each other and have affected each other for over 200 years. The book explores that intrigue, often fraught with misunderstandings, but infatuation is never far behind. Look at all the soldiers from WWII who came home with Japanese brides. Another interesting parallel is the nature of commerce between the East and the West. The Japanese and American businessmen have both much in common and widely different ways of commerce. The artistic fascination of both cultures for each other's is also covered and is enlightening to say the least.
